I spent the majority of my legal career in the courtroom or preparing to be in the courtroom. I enjoyed the challenges and excitement of litigation. However, I have learned that being involved in litigation is simply stressful for the non-lawyers. Recognizing this has made me a more result-oriented lawyer.
I want to help my clients achieve their goals and survive difficult times with as little stress and expense as possible. I firmly believe that a lawyer can be a strong and effective advocate for his clients while still maintaining a professional, respectful and courteous approach to the practice of law. I currently focus my practice on the areas of Collaborative Family Law, Parenting Coordination and Mediation.
At Irvine Law Firm, we recognize that our clients want solutions delivered in the most timely and cost-effective manner possible. They do not want litigation. They want a resolution to the conflict. By focusing my practice on alternative dispute resolution rather than litigation, I hope to help my clients resolve conflict in a way that preserves relationships, addresses needs rather than legal positions, and costs less.
I grew up in Delmar, New York, a small town near Albany. After graduating from high school, I attended college at UNC-Chapel Hill, double-majoring in English and Radio, T.V. & Motion Pictures. I got my law degree from Wake Forest University School of Law. I was admitted to practice law in North Carolina in 1988 and in Virginia in 1989.
I am fortunate to be married to my best friend and law partner, Stephanie Irvine. When I am not working, I am a musician, a cook, a traveler, and someone who loves his family, his dogs, and the mountains of this beautiful State.
